The Oceana Data Management utility includes the Encryption tab. With this tab, you can encrypt and decrypt the data stored in the following databases:
Omnichannel database
OFFLINE database
CoBrowse database
The encryption of databases is important because it makes the data useless if the data is stolen. These databases are encrypted locally. Any interruption during the encryption or decryption process can leave the databases in unusable state. Therefore, you must take a backup of the databases before encrypting them. You must also ensure that you perform the encryption or decryption process during a maintenance window.
Encryption protects databases when they are not being used. Avaya Oceana® is configured to allow Cache to start automatically. The purpose of this configuration is to eliminate any human intervention for providing the encryption credentials every time the server is restarted. Encryption does not change the normal behavior of the Cache terminal or System Management Portal, where normal user credentials are required to connect, regardless of whether or not the databases are encrypted.
