Configuring automatic backups

Last Updated : Jun 10, 2026 |

About this task

Use this procedure to modify the default automatic backup settings. By default, Avaya Aura® Device Services starts creating automatic backups each Sunday at 12:00 a.m.

The backup process requires significant system resources. Therefore, schedule automatic backups during the least busy periods to minimize the impact on Avaya Aura® Device Services performance.

Important:

Avaya Aura® Device Services recommends that you change the default password.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the Avaya Aura® Device Services web administration portal.
  2. Go to Backup Settings > Automatic Backup Configuration.
  3. In Backup Time, specify the time and date to start creating automatic backups.
  4. Select the Repeat every check box and then specify the time interval between two consecutive automatic backup operations.
  5. In Max Backup, specify how many backups you want to store on Avaya Aura® Device Services.
  6. Change the password that is currently used for automatic backups as follows:
    1. Select the Change Password check box.
    2. In Backup File Password, type a password of your choice for backups.

The password must comply with the password complexity rules. You can view the rules by pointing the cursor to the Backup File Password field.

      Important:

If STIG hardening is enabled, you must configure a password of 15 characters or more.

    3. In Re-Enter Password, type the password again.
  7. Click Save.
