Creating Transport Layer Security certificate in System Manager

About this task

Use this procedure to secure the connection between Context Store and Microsoft SQL Server. If you are using a third-party certificate, skip this procedure.

Note:

For creating TLS certificates in System Manager for the connection between Context Store and a group of EDMs hosted on two SQL Servers in an Availability Group see Generating certificates to enable SSL connections from Context Store to a a cluster of two SQL Servers hosting EDMs configured in an AlwaysOn High Availability group section.

Procedure

  1. Log in to System Manager.
  2. Click Services > Security > Certificates > Authority.
  3. On the left navigation pane, click Add End Entity.
  4. On the Add End Entity page, enter the details in the following fields:

    Entering the following values is the minimum requirement. Depending on your requirements, enter the appropriate values in the other fields.

    1. In the End Entity Profile field, select INBOUND_OUTBOUND_TLS.
    2. Enter a username and password of your choice.

      Use this information to identify the certificate when you download it from System Manager.

    3. In the CN, Common name field, enter the FQDN details of the MS SQL server.
    4. In the FQDN Name field, enter the DNS name.
    5. Leave the IP Address field blank.
    6. In the Token field, select P12 file.
    7. Click Add.
