Encrypting databases

Last Updated : Nov 14, 2019 |

About this task

Use this procedure to encrypt the following databases:

  • Omnichannel database

  • OFFLINE database

  • CoBrowse database

Important:

The encryption of the Omnichannel database does not necessitate you to enter encryption keys when performing database operations such as backup and restore.

Before you begin

Create and activate an encryption key.

Important:

Ensure that the key for encryption is activated. If you activate one key and try to perform the encryption using a different key, it provokes an inconsistent state of databases.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the Omnichannel Database server.
  2. Start the Oceana Data Management utility.
  3. In the Oceana Data Management utility, click Encryption.
  4. In the navigation pane, click Data Encryption.
  5. In the Key location field, click Browse.
  6. Select the directory containing the encryption key.
  7. In the Open dialog box, select the activated encryption key and click Open.
  8. In the Username field, type the user name of the encryption key.
  9. In the Password field, type the password of the encryption key.
  10. In the Confirm Password field, retype the password.
  11. Click Encrypt Database.

After successful encryption, the Oceana Data Management utility displays the following message:

    All databases are encrypted

If an error occurs in the encryption process, check the details of the error in the logs by using the *ERROR* prefix. An Inconsistent Database status indicates that some of the databases are encrypted and some are not.
