Modifying a backup and restore storage device in the Web Client

You can modify the path and description for an existing backup/restore device. The device name is read only and cannot be changed.
Ensure that you provide the full path for the device. When using a network mount point, the device path must exist on the CMS server and the device must be mounted.
  1. Navigate to AdministrationMaintenanceBackup/Restore Devices.
    STEP RESULT:
    CMS Supervisor displays the backup and restore devices currently administered.
  2. Click Modify next to the item you want to modify.
    STEP RESULT:
    The Modify Item window is displayed.
  3. In the Path field, enter the full path for the device.
  4. Revise the information in the Description field.
    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
    You can enter up to 50 characters. This field cannot contain the pipe (|) symbol, a semicolon, or double quotes.
  5. Administer the following options:
    • The Device Name field is display-only. You cannot change the name.
    • In the Path field, enter the full operating system path to access the device.
      See the Accessing devices section in your operating system’s Administrator's Guide for more information about devices and paths. If the device type is Other, its system path cannot be located on the CMS disk. In addition, the USB storage device or network must be mounted.
    • In the Description field, enter any additional information to help identify the device.
    • For Device Type, select either Tape or Other. Tape includes all currently supported tape drives. Other includes the USB and network type backup devices.
  6. Click OK to save your changes.
  7. Click OK.
    STEP RESULT:
    CMS Supervisor displays an updated list of items.
